The Bards' Guilde Code of Conduct

Short version:
Play Nice!

Long version:
We expect all members to know the rules and expectations of any faire or other event, and to follow them. Bards must remember at all times that, as members of the Guilde, they represent the entire membership; this is even more important when they are wearing the guilde pin.

The basics of courtesy always include:

  • Never stepping on another's gig.
  • Understanding that each faire has its own style and "quality", and that we should adapt to it.
  • Adapting to the formal and informal rules and customs of any venue in which we take part.

We understand that membership in the Guilde does not as such entitle any member to perform at any faire or other venue unless permission has been obtained from the faire management.

We shall abide by the rules for each milieu, attempting always to enhance the experience for all.

If asked to judge or otherwise act as a critic of any competition or faire, we will be impartial or, if we cannot, we will excuse ourselves.

We will at all times conduct ourselves according to the highest standards of hospitality, both as guests and hosts, and attempt, in our Bardic personae, to contribute to the enjoyment of all.
